Description
1,2-Diamino-4,5-dimethoxybenzene dihydrochloride reacts with aldehydes to produce highly fluorescent benzimidazole derivatives with excitation/emission spectra of 361/448 nm. It can be reacted with ketones and carbonyls to generate fluorescent adducts that can be separated and quantitated by reversed-phase HPLC.
Chemical Properties
Blue-Grey Powder
Uses
4,5-Dimethoxy-o-phenylenediamine dihydrochloride is used to prepare highly fluorescent benzimidazole derivatives by reacting with aldehydes. It is used for the detection of aromatic aldehydes and 2,2'-dithiobis(1-aminonaphthalene).
