Ethyl 2-[(4-Methoxyphenyl)Sulfonyl]acetate is used as a reactant in the preparation of (hetero)aryl alkyl sulfones via palladium-catalyzed three-component reaction of (hetero)aryl boronic acids, alkyl halides and potassium metabisulfite.
