Meradimate or menthyl anthranilate is a weak UVB filter and with absorption mainly in the near UVA portion of the spectrum. They are less effective than benzophenones in this range and are less widely used.
Uses
menthyl anthranilate is the only FDA-approved liquid sunscreen chemical with uVA-absorption capabilities. It has an approved usage level of 3.5 to 5 percent. This is a stable ingredient and can be combined with other sunscreen chemicals to increase SPF while providing uVA protection.
