The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. General Description
SLC3A2 (solute carrier family 3 member 2) is an integrin associated protein expressed at high levels on proliferating lymphocytes and other rapidly growing cells. It is also known as CD98hc and 4F2hc. It belongs to the CD98 family. SLC3A2 has a common glycosylated 80?kDa heavy chain and a group of ～45?kDa light chains. SLC3A2 is located on human chromosome 11q12.
Biochem/physiol Actions
SLC7A5 (solute carrier family 7 member 5) serves as a crucial transporter of amino acids in human thymic carcinoma cells. It helps to maintain intracellular leucine, a master regulator of the mammalian target of rapamycin complex1 (mTORC1) signalling pathway. SLC7A5 helps to absorb essential amino acids into cells.
