NICKEL(III)HYDROXIDE

Chemical Properties

Black powder. Readily soluble in acids. Rapidly converted to Ni3O2(OH)4 by H2O and bases. Loses water when heated in vacuum and is converted to Ni3O2(OH)4. Crystal structure: C 6 type.

Preparation

A solution of Ni(NO3)2-6H2O is treated with sodium acetate and electrolyzed at room temperature.
