Uses
Butylnaphtalenesulfonic Acid Sodium Salt has excellent penetration, wetting, emulsifying, diffusing and foaming properties. It is resistant to acid, alkali, hard water, and inorganic salts, and it can greatly increase the permeability when mixed with a small amount of salt. It is widely used in various processes in the textile printing and dyeing industry, mainly used as penetrating agent and wetting agent, and can also be used as detergent, dyeing aid, dispersing agent, insecticide and herbicide.
Synthesis
The solution of naphthalene in n-butanol was stirred with dropwise concentrated sulfuric acid. Then the mixtrue was slowly raised to 50-55°C and kept for 6h, After standing, the lower layer of acid was released. The upper layer reaction solution is neutralized with alkali, then bleached with sodium hypochlorite, settled, filtered, sprayed, and dried to give Butylnaphtalenesulfonic Acid Sodium Salt.
