Uses
Pentafluorobenzene is a fluorinated benzene with anesthetic properties. Pentafluorobenzene has been shown to potently and reversibly inhibited human α4β2 neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptor depe
ndent on drug hydrophobicity in Xenopus laevis oocyte.
Purification Methods
Purify it by distillation and by gas chromatography. IR film: 1535 and 1512 cm-1 (*C6H6 ring). [Stephen & Tatlow Chem Ind (London) 821 1957, Nield et al. J Chem Soc 166 1959, Beilstein 5 IV 639.]
Toxics Screening Level
The initial threshold screening level (ITSL) for pentafluorobenzene (CAS #363-72-4) is 10 μg/m3 with an annual averaging time.
