Description
Esacure KIP 160 (HRcure-160) is an off-white powder, difunctional alpha-OH Ketone insoluble in water and most common organic solvents, monomers, and oligomers for UV applications. This product is a new photoinitiator characterized by excellent reactivity, especially in comparison with conventional alpha-hydroxy ketones. Its molecule was suited to shift the absorption spectrum to a longer wavelength and to work perfectly with pigmented systems using conventional UV equipment. It shows a good performance with clear coatings, too. It is suitable for all systems where low VOC, low migration, and low extraction values are needed.
Uses
Difunctional alpha-hydroxyl ketone (Esacure KIP 160; HRcure-160) is a ketone derivative, which can be used as a photoinitiator.
Synthesis
N - bromo succimide (NBS)(catalyst), 1, 1' - (methanodi - 4, 1 - phenylene) double-[2 - methyl -1 - acetone] (oxidizing agent), and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) were added at 100 °C stirring for 24 hours. After the reaction by adding ethyl acetate, salt water, and ethyl acetate, it combined the organic phase column chromatography separation to obtain Difunctional alpha hydroxy ketone. Yield 90%.
