Side effects
Common side effects of Colecalciferol include: stomach (gastrointestinal) pain, feeling sick (nausea), headache, cough, constipation, dizziness, chest tightness, and fatigue. Serious side effects may include frequent urination, swelling of any part of the body, high fever and severe pain on one side of the body or one side of the lower back (an early sign of kidney stones), vomiting, pain in the bones or joints, or irregularities in the heart rhythm. Taking too much cholecalciferol over a long period of time can lead to skin rashes and hypercalcaemia, stomach pains, weakening of the bones and damage to the kidneys and heart. Some patients may also experience symptoms of a severe allergic reaction, with tightness in the throat, difficulty swallowing, sudden swelling of the lips, mouth, throat or tongue, and difficulty breathing.
