Biological Activity
Histone deacetylase 2 (HDAC2) is known to regulate DNA damage signallingmaintain genomic stability and prevents tumor formation and progression. Hdac2 does not possess a DNA binding domainit forms multi-component repressor complexes for its interaction with transcription factors. Hdac2 also mediates cell proliferationdifferentiation and apoptosis. HDAC2 controls response to chronic inflammation in COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). It activates Wnt signaling pathway via β-catenin T-cell transcription factor. Deletion of HDAC2 along with HDAC1 leads to anemia and thrombocytopenia.
