A meroterpenoid produced by various filamentous fungi, including Acremonium egyptiacum. It is a dihydroxybenzaldehyde, a member of resorcinols, a member of monochlorobenzenes, an olefinic compound, a monohydroxytetrahydrofuran, a meroterpenoid and a sesquiterpenoid. It is a conjugate acid of an ascofuranol(1-).
