First Aid Measures

Ingestion
If swallowed, wash out mouth with water provided person is conscious. Call a physician immediately.
Inhalation
If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.
Skin
Remove and isolate contaminated clothing and shoes. Immediately flush with running water for at least 20 minutes. For minor skin contact, avoid spreading material on unaffected skin.
Eyes
Assure adequate flushing of the eyes by separating the eyelids with fingers.

Handling and Storage

Storage
Keep tightly closed. Store in a cool dry place.

Hazards Identification

Inhalation
TOXIC; inhalation, ingestion, or skin contact with material may cause severe injury or death. Effects of contact or inhalation may be delayed.
Skin
Contact with molten substance may cause severe burns to skin and eyes. See Inhalation.

Exposure Controls/Personal Protection

Personal Protection
Wear appropriate government approved respirator, chemical-resistant gloves, safety goggles, other protective clothing. Faceshield (8-inch minimum).
Respirators
Wear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
Exposure Effects
Corrosive. Causes burns.

Fire Fighting Measures

Fire Fighting
Extinguish using Carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder, or appropriate foam. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes.
Fire Potential
Non-combustible, substance itself does not burn but may decompose upon heating to produce corrosive and/or toxic fumes.

Accidental Release Measures

Small spills/leaks
Cover with dry lime or soda ash, pick up, keep in a closed container, and hold for waste disposal. Ventilate area and wash spill site after material pickup is complete.

Stability and Reactivity

Stability
Stable at normal temperatures and pressures.
Incompatibilities
Strong oxidizing agents.
Decomposition
Carbon monoxide, Carbon dioxide, Sulfur oxides.
Combustion Products
Fire may produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases.
