Application:
Used in conventional antiepileptic drugs can't satisfied control or intolerance to the limitations of the onset of epilepsy patients, and then the whole body and limitations attack of additional treatment in patients with epilepsy. An antiepileptic drug, prevent from chemicals (such as print out the toxin, pouch peony alkali, strychnine, etc.) and non chemical stimuli, such as audio, electric shock, etc.) induced convulsion; It has an inhibitory effect on partial seizures and secondary generalized tonic-clonic seizures. It is an adjunctive therapy for partial seizures that cannot be satisfactorily controlled or tolerated by conventional anticonvulsants alone or in combination, as well as secondary systemic seizures to partial seizures.
Gabapentin is structurally similar to GABA (sc-203053; γ-aminobutyric acid) and is reported in various research studies to increase GABA concentrations within the brain.
Gabapentin is also noted to bind to a novel site on voltage-sensitive Ca2+ channels.
Additionally, Gabapentin is reported to demonstrate inhibition of dopamine release from caudate nucleus, preventneuronal cell death, and is antinociceptive.
Gabapentin is an anti-epileptic medication, also called an anticonvulsant. It affects chemicals and nerves in the body that are involved in the cause of seizures and some types of pain.
Gabapentin is used in adults to treat nerve pain caused by herpes virus or shingles (herpes zoster).
