Thieno[3,4-c]furan-1,3(4H,6H)-dione

4,6-Dihydro-1H,3H-thieno[3,4-c]furan-1,3-dione is used in the synthetic preparation of (-)- and (+)-palasonin via Diels-Alder reaction of citraconic anhydride.
